In the beginning I must introduce my best friend Dorothy Eddy. She is the Elderly lady wearing aqua blue in the pictures to the right. I met Dorothy when she was living in the Federal Heights Rehabilitation and Care Facility. She is a very loyal person. She loves to get out, you see her here at my birth day party in May of 2010. In September of 09 she wanted to go to a Gem Fair. That was a long day. Time passed and she wanted me to come bead with her using the beads she had bought at the fair. With a roll of my eyes, a silent moan, and an "OK" I was committed. I made a couple of pieces for Dorothy looking at them now I have to laugh. I was definitely a beginner. Then a friend I was getting to know at the time, Marie Esther Garcia, came into my mind.
I was working with fresh water pearls when Esther's skin tones and tastes filled my thoughts. The combination of these elements caused me to create a string of pearls alternating maroon, pink, and white. The creamy pearls accentuated her complexion and hair color perfectly highlighting everything that was beautiful in both the girl and the necklace. I have since lost her acquaintance thus losing access to that piece of jewelry, yet it was the beginning of a passion that has come to dominate my life. That passion specifically defined is: To create jewelry that is only complete when worn by the person who inspired its creation.
